Cousin Nature Goddesses

During my time at school in April and May 2023, I became increasingly passionate about the role of art and beauty in relation to caring for nature.

Passion for nature began at a young age. My backyard was full of beautiful wildlife, including rocks, flowers, and most importantly, trees.

But, I did not cultivate this passion alone. Every Sunday, the day of rest and restoration, my little sister and two cousins would play in my backyard, creating the most beautiful things out of natural materials. To pay tribute to their influence in my life and their beautiful spirits, I decided to draw them as nature goddesses.

Each image has symbolic references in the iconography, including birth flowers and animal body parts emblematic of their character and role in the games that we used to play when we were little.

This series is a tribute to caring for nature through the bond of community, and emphasizes the bond made from working with others to build something beautiful.
