Sockergris

Sockergris is a Scandinavian goods online gift shop. It provides specialties like candy, candles, wall art, and other nordic specialties. 

 

The slang term in Swedish for someone who can’t get enough of candy is “sockergris.” In English, this can be translated to the lovable phrase "sugar pig." 

 

The idea behind the logo was to capture the famous dala horse design from the Dalarna region in Sweden. This is a well known image amongst Swedes around the world, and the nod to it’s prominence in the design is to not only build recognition in the Swedish aspects of the brand, but also credibility.

 

The thin font can be traced back to the thin nature of Norse ruins, which are often linear, angular, and clean. The most common example of this is the Bluetooth sign. Though there is not a direct parallel between the ruins and the font, the similar shape and feel should also contribute to the minimalist and cozy Scandinavian design aesthetic.
